Creating two matching paper dolls simultaneously can be a challenge. Naturally, one outfit comes first. In this case, the dress came before Santa's suit. And it's been a bit back & forth with this project. Sometimes Santa's outfit came first, sometimes Mrs Claus's came first.
The most difficult part of this dress was shading the ruffles. Not drawing them -- I think I have that pretty much figured out. I tried to avoid gradients with this project. I wanted simple lines & simple shapes overall. But I'm also a firm believer of using the correct tool for the job. I used subtle gradients to shade the ruffles & it seemed to work here. The pattern on the dress is the same as the pattern on the base doll. I liked it & wanted to use it again.
Tomorrow is the beginning of the end of this project. Two more outfits to go....
If you're looking for the dolls, you can grab them here.
what fun to come back after being away and see so many new outfits! (technically i'm still away, but i have access to a computer this morning ~ yay!)

Honestly, I'll be a little sad when this series is over, too! It's been a fun project. I plan on turning it into a book with additional outfits. I'll let you know when that happens!
